Daniel Sattizahn

Daniel SattizahnDaniel began coaching volleyball over four years ago, when his youngest daughter said she wanted to start playing, and joined the Victory coaching staff in 2022. After experiencing the coaching and culture of various clubs in the area, he naturally gravitated towards Victory to be able to improve the lives of his players both on and off the court. As an avid and involved volunteer in the elementary school ministry at CityPoint Church, in Allen, Texas, Daniel helps lead the Sunday morning services every few weeks. Victory provides the perfect arena for him to help players grow in their walk with Christ while also improving their volleyball skills as well.He believes that a team wins or loses based on more than just the abilities of the players individually, but success largely depends on the team culture as well. His coaching philosophy is to shower the players with encouragement, love, and respect, avoiding negativity as much as possible, in the hopes that this will lead to them doing the same with their teammates. The end result is, hopefully, a group of girls who not only know how to win together, but who can also pick each other, weather the tough times, and get better each and every game.

Education and learning are a passion for Daniel, and he finds ways to integrate them in all that he does. He graduated from Princeton University with a Bachelor’s in Politics, from the University of Notre Dame with a Juris Doctor, from West Texas A&M with a Master’s of Science in Finance and Economics, and is currently attending the University of Texas at Dallas to obtain a Master’s in Public Policy and a PhD in Public Policy and Political Economy. He is currently employed at Collin College, the Spring Creek Campus, where he serves as the Director of the Honors Institute and is a Professor of Economics, primarily focusing on teaching Dual Credit Economics at various local high schools (including Plano East, Plano West, and Lovejoy). He is also a College Board AP Macroeconomics Reader and loves helping tutor students who are taking that course!

When not teaching, coaching, or studying, Daniel spends the rest of his time with his family, including his wife (of nearly 19 years), four children (three girls and one boy), three cats, and one dumb dog. He has two life verses:

1 Corinthians 9:22 – “I have become all things, to all men, so that by all possible means, I might save some.”

Habakkuk 3:17-18 – “Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will be joyful in God my Savior.”
